The AWS migration problem

What kills most AWS projects.

01 / 04 · 6Rs strategy decisions
0

Rehost · Replatform · Refactor · Repurchase · Retire · Retain. Most teams pick wrong the first time and pay twice. Our discovery assigns the right R to every workload before any code moves.

02 / 04 · Wasted AWS spend
0%

Average organisation wastes 40% of cloud spend on over-provisioned EC2, orphaned EBS, and idle RDS instances. Our Well-Architected review catches it before go-live.

03 / 04 · Cutover downtime
2-4hr

AWS Application Migration Service handles continuous block-level replication. Final cutover window runs off-hours, delta sync handles the last writes, rollback is one-click.

04 / 04 · Large data transfers
0TB+

For 10 TB+ datasets we use AWS Snowball, DataSync, or Transfer Family. Network-heavy transfers run off business hours so production bandwidth stays clean.

What's included

AWS delivered properly.

01

AWS Migration Hub discovery

Automated discovery of on-prem or other-cloud workloads. Dependency mapping via Application Discovery Service. Delivered as a fixed-price SOW within 3-5 business days.

02

Application Migration Service (MGN)

Continuous block-level replication for EC2 lift-and-shift. Non-disruptive testing in target VPC before production cutover. Final cutover window under 4 hours.

03

Database Migration Service (DMS)

Heterogeneous and homogeneous database moves. SQL Server → RDS, Oracle → Aurora PostgreSQL, on-prem MySQL → Aurora. Continuous replication minimises cutover downtime.

04

Multi-account landing zone

AWS Organizations, Control Tower, SCPs, IAM Identity Center. Production-ready account structure with logging, security, and billing separated on day one.

05

Containerization (ECS / EKS / Fargate)

Rehost first, then modernise. We containerize legacy apps into ECS or EKS as a follow-on phase — measured by cost-per-request and ops overhead reduction.

06

Well-Architected review

Six-pillar review (Operational, Security, Reliability, Performance, Cost, Sustainability) on every engagement. Reserved Instances and Savings Plans analysed before you commit.

Delivery methodology

Four phases. AWS-certified team.

01

Assess

Week 0-1 · AWS Migration Hub discovery, dependency map, 6Rs classification per workload, fixed-price SOW.

02

Plan

Week 1-2 · Landing zone deployed (Control Tower), IAM Identity Center, VPC + security baseline, runbook + rollback signed off.

03

Migrate

Week 2+ · MGN replication, DMS for databases, pilot wave (5-10 VMs), production wave cutover off-hours, delta sync before DNS flip.

04

Optimize

Hypercare + 30 days · Well-Architected review, Reserved Instances / Savings Plans, cost dashboards, admin handover.

From our clients

“Seamless migration of our entire e-commerce platform to AWS. Performance improved by 50%. Medha handled networking, IAM, containerization, and post-migration optimisation. Reserved Instance analysis saved us another 28% on compute.”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a typical AWS cloud migration take?+
Timeline depends on VM count, data volume, and complexity. Small migrations (5-20 VMs) typically complete in 2-4 weeks. Medium migrations (20-100 VMs) take 4-8 weeks. Enterprise migrations (100+ VMs) range from 8-16 weeks. Most actual data transfer happens over weekends to minimize business disruption.
Will there be any downtime during the migration?+
We minimize downtime by performing migrations during nights and weekends. Most migrations have only 2-4 hours of downtime during the final cutover. Applications typically experience no disruption during business hours.
Is there any risk of data loss during migration?+
Zero data loss guaranteed. Every migration includes pre-migration verification, real-time monitoring during transfer, and post-migration validation. In 500+ migrations, we have never had a data loss incident. All migrations include full backups.
What platforms can you migrate from to AWS?+
VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure (VMs, databases, storage), Google Cloud Platform (GCE, Cloud SQL), physical servers (P2V migration), other AWS regions or accounts, and legacy infrastructure. If your workload runs on it, we can migrate it to AWS.
Can you migrate our database to Amazon RDS?+
Yes. We migrate databases to RDS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server), Aurora, or DynamoDB based on your requirements, using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) with continuous replication for minimal cutover downtime.
How much does an AWS cloud migration cost?+
Pricing depends on VM count, workload complexity, and data volume. Project-based: $5,000 (5-20 VMs), $15,000 (20-50 VMs), custom (50+ VMs). Per-VM: $250 basic, $500 standard, $1,000+ premium (includes databases and applications). All prices include zero data loss guarantee, migration tools, and post-migration support. No hidden fees.
