Is Azure down right now?
The incident feed above pulls Microsoft's official Azure status RSS every 5 minutes. An empty feed means no major platform incidents. Region- or service-specific degradations may still show in your Azure Portal → Service Health, which is scoped to YOUR subscriptions and regions.
My VMs/app are down but Azure status shows no incident — why?
Azure's public page only lists broad incidents. Subscription-scoped issues appear in Azure Portal → Service Health → Service issues. Also check: expired credentials/certificates, NSG changes, quota exhaustion, and spot-instance evictions — the most common "fake Azure outages" we diagnose.
What should I do during an Azure outage?
Check Service Health for YOUR scope, note the tracking ID, and don't redeploy blindly — failed redeployments during capacity incidents make recovery slower. If you have paired-region DR, evaluate failover only for extended incidents (most resolve in 1-3 hours). Document impact for SLA credit claims.
Does Microsoft pay refunds for Azure outages?
Yes — SLA credits (typically 10-100% of the affected service's monthly cost depending on downtime) but you must CLAIM them within two billing months. Most companies never file. Filing SLA claims is part of our managed Azure service.
